Oral Presentation

Most oral presentations at science fairs are given to one judge at your display board. You are usually given 10 to 12 minutes for the actual presentation and 3 to 5 minutes for a question and answer period.

General Tips:

1. What is the “take-home message?” In other words, what is the most important thing you want to convey to your audience? Stress this message at the beginning and end of your talk.

2. Understand your research completely.

3. Keep it simple and concise.

4. Never read your presentation.

5. Exhibit enthusiasm, make eye contact, stand up straight.

6. Add examples of other work people have done related to your project.

7. Rehearse in front of a group. Rehearse in front of a video camera. REHEARSE! REHEARSE! REHEARSE! REHEARSE!
