N.Y. State Scholarship for Academic Excellence

The Scholarships for Academic Excellence are awarded to top students graduating from New York State high schools in June 2026. Student nominees are selected using criteria set by the State Education Department, including their performance on Regents exams taken before the end of the junior year. Scholarships are valued at $500 and $1,500 and are awarded to students who attend an institution of higher education in New York State. “We are so proud of these exceptional South Side High School seniors. They deserve this recognition for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence that they have demonstrated over their four years here at South Side. IB Dance Thriller

IB dancers unite students with inclusive ‘Thriller’ Halloween performance

The High School’s new International Baccalaureate dancers took to the halls to show off their “Thriller” dance moves inspired by Michael Jackson’s song of the same title. Along with the CORE, Pathways,’ and Best Buddies students, the IB dancers celebrated the inclusion, creativity and school spirit of South Side.

South Side girls and boys soccer teams honor heroes in Tunnel to Towers Walk

48 players of South Side boys and girls varsity soccer participated in New York City’s Tunnel to Towers 5K Walk & Run alongside three boys soccer coaches, to help raise money for those impacted by the tragedy. The foundation supports struggling families of first responders and military members.
